News » Poland to be BITKOM and CeBIT Partner Country for 2013
Even after the end of the European Soccer Championship, Poland will remain in the center of attention of the companies from the new technologies sector. That is because in 2013 it will be the partner country of the BITKOM Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media, as well as the CeBIT fair.
Poland, a country with innovative and dynamically developing economy has been Germany’s most important trade partner for many years, emphasized Prof. Dieter Kempf, president of the BITKOM association. Thanks to its stable growth, the Polish market is extremely attractive to companies from the ICT sector. German enterprises can gain a lot through tightening relations with their eastern neighbor. The task of the cooperation within the established partnership is to also help the small and medium businesses appear on the international stage.
Frank Pörschmann of the CeBIT fair board at Deutsche Messe AG added: “Polish economy keeps growing and developing. The entire Europe hopes for it to help improve the economic trend. We are happy that it was Poland that was chosen as the partner country for the 2013 CeBIT fair – it’s a competent business partner, an attractive location for manufacturing companies, and a homeland to the greatly educated IT and ICT specialists”.
Both the Deutsche Messe company, the organizer of the fair, as well as the BITKOM association can boast very good contacts with a great number of Polish companies and institutions. The basis for partnership in 2013 will be 2 agreements – one between BITKOM and the ICT sector representatives in Poland, and one between the Deutsche Messe and the Polish Ministry of Economy. On June 26th in Berlin, Dariusz Bogdan, the undersecretary of state in the Ministry of Economy, and Frank Pörschmann of the CeBIT fair board, signed a letter of intent determining the scope of cooperation.
I am extremely happy that Germany – our biggest trade partner – noticed the big potential of the Polish IT sector and offered us the partnership at the biggest event of the digital world, the 2013 CeBIT fair – said the undersecretary of state, Dariusz Bogdan. We will use this opportunity to strengthen the bilateral relations within the scope of IT and new technologies. I am convinced, that in the upcoming years, the IT sector will be the growth driver for Europe – hence, it is already worth investing in today.
The Polish-German partnership is a good opportunity to begin conversations on the subject of economic policy and the strategy for development of new technologies with the governments of both countries – added Prof. Dieter Kempf, president of BITKOM. Government representatives and high-ranking politicians from both countries announced their attendance at the Polish-German ICT Summit, which will take place on March 6th 2013, on the opening day of the CeBIT fair.
In 1993, countries of Central and Eastern Europe associated under the banner: “Business with Eastern Europe” were the partner region of the CeBIT fair. The official opening of the event was attended by the then Polish Prime Minister, Hanna Suchocka. However, there have been many changes since that time. Within the last 20 years, Poland has undergone a spectacular development, and the economic crisis of 2008/09 left hardly any mark on it. We would like to offer our closest neighbor an international platform, on which it will present its potential to the entire world, as a leader of technically advanced digital solutions – emphasized Frank Pörschmann.
The IT and ICT sector in Poland has been showing a constant upward trend for years. EITO, a market survey institute affiliated to BITKOM, forecasts that in 2012 it will grow by another 2.6%, to the level of €16 billion. Areas, which contribute the most to the development of this sector, are primarily: tablet sales, IT outsourcing, network services and data transfer services.
